The Playlist Pyramid: How Music Moves Through Spotify's Playlist Ecosystem
Love the tips! Would love it more if I could do half the things it says.
You forgot to mention "at least 25,000 monthly listeners" required to activate this so-called Discovery Mode. How this is good for new artists?
Just pay to artists the share from users' subscriptions. I don't wanna pay royalties to The Weeknd if I don't listen to him. So only paid streams are counted for royalties. And free streams are only for the statistics.
I think Karen O is soooooo hot.
good class
No
This is cool and all, but half of it you can't do unless you've been accepted into the program, so not all that helpful for most people.
How come only certain artists get on playlists, I know an artist that used to get on playlists now no longer has got on any editorials and they have quality music and a decent amount of streams. 70k per song. It feels rigged. Like everything else. Why are yo charging more to customers but paying less to artists?
Learning a lot from your channel, thank u 🙏
17K streams? Wow! So she earned $5 from all that work, right?
If Spotify added a "For You" page as well as a comments section to each song, then it could finally become an actual platform for artists to post music and interact with listeners instead of just being ancillary to TikTok. It almost seems like they have some kind of backdoor deal with TikTok otherwise surely they would have done this already.
😊 Ty
nice. now make ALL those Spotify features available to the large majority of artists that don't live in the US, France, Spain, UK. too. thx. 😀
When will the feature be available in Germany? It looks like so much fun to use!
Well a lot of these features like Marquee or Clips aren't even available in Switzerland and i've been averaging around 50k monthly listeners for some time now. :(
The irony is that Laufey last year had 30+million monthly listeners I checked and the vast amount was in India...I gather they stopped paying them...
Wow that's very good my Brother's and sisters one love 👋 one day I get there. Cause is not yet in my country Ghana 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭
Wow that's awesome more vim there my Brother's and sisters 🎉🎉🎉🎉
wheres the pre-release to the independent artistis?
Spotify treats many independent artist in a different way than mainstream artist some have multiple releases on the same day on Release Radar 😂
@@ButchBrown7 fr
@@zero2OO3 I read a few testimonials and its almost like the Villainize independent artist. They hit people with Fake Streams alerts but find ways to let mainstream artist make all the money. The Owner is a Billionaire 😂 but I have to say their sound quality it best on all platforms
Check out songs by View19
Not available for me in georgia only pitching and artist pitch on my profile is
This kinda feels like a slap in the face considering half of these tools are not available to the vast majority of indie artists...
And why is that ? You know labels and big companies like Sony music control Spotify biggest playlists and more and they get prioritized over the independent artists.
@@Kanemo89 Yea playlists are a lost cause imo. And those other tools to grow your fanbase only become available once your fanbase has grown 😂 "Catch 22". Edit: to be fair I don't blame Spotify, it's the same everywhere else, and actually worse with e.g. Apple Music (who pay more, yes, but seem to have zero care for indie artists).
I didn’t know about clips, that’s sick! Adding to my release plan 🤘
Spotify, why do you remove songs for "fake streams" but you keep the playlists open? We can't even control what playlists ppl add us to. Please consider thinking through this more.
Why would you create a promo video for Spotify features that aren't available to a large majority of artists? Countdown Page aren't available to most artists Playlist Pitching rarely if ever yields a playlist placement for most artists Marquee requires a high amount of funding to see any real effect Clips feature isn't available to most artists Merch feature isn't available to artists that don't use Shopify Thanks for Canvas and Artist Pick, I guess...
Its great to see so many artists publicly show their concerns about categories that don't work on Spotify 😂
@@ButchBrown7 💯💯💯
Spotify knows how hard artists work to make an authentic connection with fans. That's why Spotify is punishing artists, whether or not they are being nefarious themselves or not, without proof, when it's ultimately Spotify's issue that they don't have better systems in place to go after the criminals who are artificially streaming!
Spotify Showcase has to be the WORST MARKETING TOOL everrrrr made! Like EVER MADE! Trust me when I say this... It's just another way of taking money from artists! DONT USE THIS TOOL! IT BARELY DOES ANYTHING. LIKE NADA!
Check out our brand new resource on all things artificial streaming here: artists.spotify.com/artificial-streaming
Love you Tom x
Thank you for this!
very helpful
great stuff!
great info!
While the concept is noble and just the system is exploitable at the artists' expense. I released an album this year in april, and comparingly to my other releases did fairly well. By "comparingly" I mean that it accumulated just shy of 2000 streams in total over 2 and a half months, which in royalties really does not translate to much. It was then flagged for artificial streaming and subsequently removed. I'm completely alone in my endeavour to make music, including marketing. The only platforms that I personally shared my music on was Instagram and Facebook. Either the system is flawed, and removed an album that did not make use of artificial streams, or someone outside my production team (consisting of me) hired a bot to generate artificial streams on my music. Either way it feels awful to have your music removed for a transgression you did not commit.
Her eyes. Pretty
👍🌹🌹💚💚
Imagine being sent here after trying to talk to a manager over being falsely accused of buying streams and they remove your song...spotify is now a joke to me
Just happened to me ...they took down 5 albums and I only use distrokid and distrokids wheel of playlist...now I'm in hell trying to get it fixed ..no bots no out side marketing... you don't protect artists youre part of the problem
This is a perfect example of a new kind of way in promoting and capturing the interests of the public on a recording artist's upcoming music production.
This is crazy because anyone who has a paid Spotify account can add anyones songs to a playlist without their consent or knowledge. If someone does this and sets up a bot , a.i. or whatever is creating the fake stream then the persons song will get taken down. Why isn't Spotify protecting the artists? Why isn't Spotify disclosing the information to the artists so they can prosecute the person who does this to their music.
Really Helpfull🙂
I had my album removed through no fault or unlawful action of my own. I have never paid for or given permission for my music to be included on illegitimate playlists - yet like so many other artists, I’m being penalised for it. Spotify say they can’t help. My distributor is powerless. It’s such a shame for the countless number of unknown artists out there just trying to get their music heard.
Spotify removed ALL of my songs -- two albums. How can I get my music back? No one is helping me and I never paid for any service or knew I had artificial streams...
100% loving this message!
So, I know exactly why my track had mopre streams than others. The person it was about posted about it on their IG and thats when it spiked. I even posted about it on social media. So youre saying anything slightly more popular (cos my track only had 3429 streams) is artificial? You know big artists and labels buy playlist plays all the time right? Maybe Im just not big enough. I realise music newbies might not know this but dont punish artists for what playlist bots might be doing without their permission
Never thought that the artist/distributor might not be the guilt?
